What‘s the difference between SGMII and Serdes? By S***r on 02/10/2020

Serdes and SGMII are both transceiver serial interfaces, the difference between SGMII and Serdes is that SGMII supports 10/100/1000 rate auto-negotiation but Serdes is fixed rate. FS can provide 100BASE-T, 10/100 / 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-FX SGMII modules. By J***s on 02/10/2020

Can this 10/100/1000BASE-T transceiver work in the 1000BASE port of my device which supports SerDes interface? How can it be compatible with 100M RJ-45 port? By S***n on 02/10/2020

A:
Yes, this SFP SGMII transceiver can work on the device, but please note that it can only work at 1000BASE rate, can not negotiate backward at 10/100m rate. If you have device with a gigabit SFP port that can negotiate the 100M rate down, then this 10/100/1000BASE-T transceiver can connect to the 100M RJ-45 port. By M***r on 02/10/2020
