How to Enable Command-Line Interface & Web Interface on Network Switches

How to Enable CLI (Command-Line) & Web Interface on Network Switches

FS Official 23 Aug, 2018

A command line interface (CLI), also known as command-line user interface, console user interface, and character user interfaces, is a text-based user interface to interact with a computer program. Users can manage and view their computer files through CLI. And with basic command line interface knowledge, troubleshooting network connection issues gets easier.

Web user interface (Web UI) is similar to CLI. It’s helpful for users to manage Ethernet switches. For example, through Web UI, users can view the working status of network switches, configure or delete VLANs, configure mirror, STP, IP routing, SNMP, ERPS, etc. All these functions configuration process can be found in the video-Use Web User Interface to Manage Network Switches

In a word, CLI (command-line) interface and Web user interface (Web UI) are two useful management tools of Ethernet switches. This video introduces how to enable CLI and Web user interface by using FS S5850-32S2Q data centre switch step by step. The FS S5850-32S2Q network switch provides 32 10G SFP+ ports and 2 40G QSFP+ ports and supports advanced functions like MLAG, ACL (access control list), IP routing, MSTP, etc., which make it suitable for small or mid-sized data centres. All CLI commands used in the configuration of CLI and Web UI are explained in details, aiming to help our users know the configuration steps clear.
