If I want to connect two cassettes via an MTP trunk cable (Type A polarity), and use BiDi optics on each end, do I need two Type A cassettes on each end of the cable? Will I be able to to use normal LC duplex optics as well?

  • If you want to connect two cassettes via an MTP® trunk cable (Type A polarity), the Type A and Type AF cassettes are recommended to be used as a pair to ensure the connection, the transmission of the signal will be P2 in and P1 out. And if BiDi optics are to be used on each end, the LC simplex patch cables are recommended, since the BiDi transceiver is normally of LC simplex connector.
