What are the meanings and the practical implications of the 4 different forwarding modes? The documentation doesn’t explain what each of the four different modes are, their effects on transmission latency, or how you'd choose the right one for your network.

Thanks for your question. Forwarding modes include Store-and-Forward mode, Modified Cut-Through mode, Smart pass through mode and Pass through mode. Store-and-Forward mode receives and analyzes the contents of the whole network data frames, and the integrity check of the data frames is carried out to effectively avoid errors switching support error checking, its switch latency is a little long. Modified Cut-Through mode detects the frame length but only detects the previous part. Smart pass through mode detects peer rate, it's similar with the cut-through mode. Pass through mode is forwarded upon receipt without any check or modification. Modified Cut-Through mode, Smart pass through mode and Pass through mode have low switch latency. The default setting is Store-and-Forward mode. What kind of mode should choose depends on your requirements for the accuracy and speed of the data transmission. By FS on 07/19/2019
