1+1 Optical Line Protection System for Fiber Protection, Bi-directional Protection in Dual Fiber, LC/UPC, Pluggable Module

OLP(Optical Line Protection) is a device used in pairs, one at each end of the optical signal to protect network transmission line. It can realize optical power monitoring and automatic switching. In optical communication network, OLP monitors optical power of optical fiber and standby optical fiber at real time. In case the current optical power of optical fiber is less than pre-set switching threshold value, then alarm is on and it would switch to standby optical fiber automatically to protect optical transmission system line.

OLP 1+1 adopts the mode of dual transmitting and selective receiving. It is widely used in Optical Line Protection System like PDH, SDH system, C/DWDM system, electric telecommunication exclusive net as well as CATV optical net.

In the diagram it shows a DCM and BA for both the working and protection route, if both routes are the same distance and loss, could just a single amplified signal plug into the OLP and then split to the two different routes? Or is it suggest to amplify AFTER the OLP? By S***t on 03/10/2018

Thanks for your question. Both two solutions you menbtioned can meet the transmission need. When the distance and loss of the two paths are the same, we recommend the first way. Please notice that if there's no DCM and EDFA, it will affect signal transmission of the both paths, but amplifying AFTER the OLP is safer. You can choose according to your application environment. Hello, please try the following Snmpwalk commands to monitor the FMT chassis card;
1. "snmpwalk -Cc -c public -v1 10.172.1.222 enterprises.40989.10.16", this command is an example of reading the IP address 10.172.1.222 chassis command, here it need your actual IP address shall prevail.
2. If you want to read the chassis of other IP addresses, you also need to modify the IP address, "snmpwalk -Cc -c public -v1 IP(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) enterprises.40989.10.16".

In the normal condition of the main path and the backup optical fiber, OLP card cannot be switched automatically. Only when one of the lines is cut off and the protection line is normal, automatically switch will be achieved. By M***l on 17/05/2018

O/E/S/C/L band signals can be passed through. But since there is power monitoring and switching threshold judgment in OLP, and the wavelength in OLP is the judgment range for monitoring data.
