Love this switch. Works great, FS switches seem to have long life. I am looking forward to when prices drop even more but for the features this is a best buy.

Port mirroring was easy to set up, and has worked flawlessly, so at this point I'm very pleased with this device, especially considering the reasonable price tag.

You are a credit to FS.com reputation and professsional image, and myself and the others are fans of FS kit :), so when we need servers/switches/routers, we will be coming your way, nothing immediate but I know how good ur stuff is, between you and me they are FINALLY finding out, how good the 8560 and 5800 series units we bought are, between you and me they are FINALLY finding out.

As I was researching switches capable of 100GbE, I came across the S5850-48S2Q4C and was impressed with its specs and capabilities. Some specific questions I had were answered quickly and thoroughly via a chat with FS tech/pre-sales support. I even got a follow up message from an account manager right before I decided to purchase. The switch arrived quicker than expected, and the double boxes ensured it arrived without any dings or scratches. Provisioning the switch correctly for our setup did take a phone call to FS support we had not used an FS product before, but they helped us out and we had our switch online and active in a fairly short amount of time. It has been in operation for around two months now with no downtime or issues.

One note about installing this switch. It comes with attachable front ears for rack mounting, which I did. However, the weight of the switch caused it to sag a bit in the rear -- too much for my comfort. I ended up buying a fixed shelf that mounts front and rear, installing the rubber feet on the switch, and placing the switch on the fixed shelf. I also used the rack ears to keep the switch from shifting. If you are planning on rack mounting this switch, I would recommend supporting it with a sturdy shelf. FS has a couple of available options.

We had a very pleasant experience with them. We first saw their 10G switch Ixia test video on YouTube. Then we turned to their website and were impressed by the details. This switch truly works as advertised. The throughput and loss are satisfying. Sure enough, its quality is highly assured. The whole buying process is comfortable.

Since we had shopping experiences from FS before, we placed the order immediately after confirming with the account manager. We bought pcs of this S5850-48S2Q4C switch, several optical modules and optical fibers to realize the planned connection. All of them have operated perfectly in our data center so far. Quite satisfied!
