We were experiencing a shortage of network equipment with our current vendors, but we were tasked with a hardware refresh for a new customer, we decided to use FS switch products due to the availability. We didn't purchase switches from FS in the past and asked to demo the hardware before we commit to purchasing it. It was great to have a sample for testing within 30 days. Based on customer reviews fs charged for the operating system separately, it was not actually true, it depended on different series switches, I tried S5860, S3410 and S3950 series, non of them were charged for license fee.

I have received our two first fs.com switches (S3950-4T12S), our first fs switches ever! We have also received our AOCs, DACs NICs and transceivers. I can use the fs switch to create the mlag between them and provide Active-Active access for Cisco nexus switches. FS switches work seamlessly with Cisco products.

This is a great product, providing every L3 feature I ever hoped for, and then some. Because everybody needs BGP in their home network, right?

It\'s also close enough to a well-known manufacturer\'s devices to be comfortable to configure and use; of course there are some differences, and mostly for the better.

I haven\'t yet tested whether it can actually route at 10Gb/s - between multiple devices - because there\'s no hardware for that. Yet. That\'ll be interesting to see!

Also, it works with any optics I\'ve thrown at it - Extreme, HP(E), Finisar... you name it. However, FS optics are so inexpensive, that there\'s no real need to rummage through the old stuff.

During the configuration of the product in question via the serial port, the system did not ask me for any password to operate. This allows anyone to change the configuration, just have access to the switch. I was worried about this and asked the FS techs about it. They told me that when I first logged into the console port, the default was to log in without a password. To increase login security, a password could be configured for the console. I was given step-by-step instructions on how to configure the password, which helped me a lot. Overall, I would recommend FS products.

Second time to order this switch, used them to replace our previous switches, work well and we are happy with them. I will have a look for the other switches and see if we can get some also.

When we were considering FS products for the equipment of our production sites, prompt delivery would be important, we were in urgent need for the parts. FS components were in stock, which met our project deadline. Basically we wanted to build the 20/40G redundant storage backbone with 4 x S3950-4T12S, it was easy to configure MLAG to achieve redundancy. I can completely relied on FS technical's recommendation regarding GBICs, Fiber Cable Specifications for the given components and distances.

I've set up MLAG, just to cover risk if one fiber breaks or one switch breaks. MLAG is new to me, but it's rather easy to find the configuration guide on their web portal. It can set up an LACP trunk between a pair in MLAG and a stack of HPE switches :) No spanning tree is in use here right now.

I need a Layer 2 or Layer 2+ switch with at least 8 10G ports to connect to the storage server, the S3950-4T12S is definitely the best product for my system, they are okay for the access layer in SMBs.
