So far, a fantastic switch. I was having issues with dropped packets and overall network speed decline after adding an iScsi based san to a flat layer 2 network with a comcast business modem as the router. Changed over to a Cisco Nexus 3- and the noise was too much as expected. Ordered this switch shortly after.

Excellent build quality with dual fans and dual power supplies including cable locks. Getting access to the switch was fast an easy. Standard console access is there as expected, but out of the box all switch ports are up and the mgmt port is configured with 192.168.1.1. I was able to get access and get routing fast. Even after I made a configuration mistake, recovery was easy. Pretty nice web interface too for those like me that dont have all the core commands memorized. Command structure and feel follows pretty close with other switch brands so no major learning curve. Just remember the last 4 ports are 10/25 and wont support 1G/2.5G Ethernet modules. (Oops, took me a minute to figure out why it was not working.)

My internet hit 1Gbps on tests for the first time, my ms round trip is now sub 1ms times, and all network stability issues (limited layer 2 remember) have gone away. On the noise front, it is louder than the layer 2 switches I had previously installed, but not as loud as the nexus3k. It sounds like a quiet bathroom fan.

    Overall, great switch. Strongly recommended.

Just wanted to reach out and say that the switches are installed in our environment, propping up our new SAN nicely. Its my first exposure to FS.com hardware/transceivers/cabling with this purchase – but I’ve known about FS.com and been browsing the website for about a year or two I’d say, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the build quality and ease of use, everything just – worked. Thank you for your help, when we come to look at replacement servers, I’ll certainly be keeping you in mind.
