Planar lightwave circuit (PLC) splitter is a type of optical power management device that is fabricated using silica optical waveguide technology to distribute optical signals from Central Office (CO) to multiple premise locations.

Blockless PLC splitter has stronger fiber protection than bare fiber splitter, which is a miniaturization result of cassette splitter. It's mainly used for various connection and distribution boxes or network cabinets.

The PLC splitter being a passive component, can it be also used as a combiner? Meaning a 1x8 splitter will split power from IN port into 8 output ports. But can it combine power from 8 ports into 1 IN port. I dont care about identifying wavelength. Just combine the power from 8 branches. Please pardon my ignorance. By N***k on 07/10/2019

I know to expect ~5 nanoseconds of propagation delay per meter of singlemode fiber. Since both FBT and PLC splitters are passive, is there a latency difference between them? By L***e on 06/05/2018

I have a question regarding PLC splitter. Is there any way to make it bi-directional, if you shine light into fiber 4, you will see any light out of the IN fiber? By B***e on 03/25/2018

Hi, PLC splitter is generally used in PON network, if you use it in PON network, then it can meet your requirement, but if not, it can not achieve the bi-directional transmission. Because if multiple transceivers in the same wavelength from fiber 4 transmit signals to the IN fiber transceiver, then this transceiver cannot distinguish the signals. And PON network adopts Time division multiplexing technology, so the transceiver can distinguish the signals from different transceivers. By D***s on 03/25/2018

No, it doesn't. Our PLC splitters only support singlemode application, and the fiber type is G657A1, if you want multimode splitters, please refer to FBT Coupler Splitter #65801 By E***n on 03/25/2018

Hello, the item #12491 is with SC/APC connectors, while the fiber media converters are generally with SC/UPC connectors. In order to ensure the stable transmission of optical signals, we recommend you to choose #35405 with 1x8 SC/UPC connectors.
