We have purchased recently "1000BASE-ZXC SFP 1550nm 160km" SFP ,(SFP1G-ZXC-55), We want to test this SFP in our lab with CISCO and Fortinet devices, For those two devices, a 10m SM cable is connected. mainly we need to know, what is the attenuator size to be selected for our lab test.

The general rule for signal loss is around 0.4db per kilometer. To test your setup in a lab, you need to get your real distance (let's say 100km) and multiply by 0.4 which now equals 40db. For this you may need to order 2 attenuators for each strand. One 15db and the other 25db. You insert one into the other for a total of 40db attenuation. От R***S 24/08/2023
