Generally speaking, QSFP28 optical module consumes less power than CFP optical module, QSFP28 optical module usually consumes less than 3.5W, while CFP optical module consumes more than 6W. In terms of application, CFP optical modules are usually used for transmission over 10KM, while QSFP28 optical modules are usually used for transmission within 10KM.
