The Form Type of 40G QSFP + and 100G QSFP28 is the same. If the 100G port of your device also supports 40G rate and the port supports sub-port (ie 40G is divided into 4X10G), you can use the corresponding compatible 40G-4X10G DAC on the 100G port.

FS.COM 40G QSFP+ to 4x10G SFP+ Passive Direct Attach Copper Breakout Cables leverage parallel technology standard defined by IEEE. This technology uses 4 lanes in each direction that must be supported by the switch or router. A fiber, which is a passive medium and has no concept of the signal speed, connects one 40G port (carrying four 10G lanes) to four 10G ports.
