25G SFP28 DACs are best suited for short-reach connections within the same rack or between adjacent racks. They offer lower cost, lower power consumption, and true plug-and-play deployment. When the link distance is within the supported range of the DAC (typically ≤5 m) and there is no high requirement for cabling flexibility, a DAC is a more economical and efficient choice. For longer distances, cross-row cabling, or applications requiring higher cable flexibility, optical transceivers with fiber are the preferred solution.

The use of the wire has nothing to do with the thickness of gauge, there is no problem when using it, as long as the product is compatible and the power of switch is not overloaded.
