DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring / Digital Optical Monitoring) are built-in diagnostic functions of optical transceivers and AOCs that provide real-time monitoring of key operating parameters such as temperature, voltage, laser bias current, and transmit/receive optical power. These diagnostics help network operators quickly assess link health, troubleshoot faults, and perform preventive maintenance, ensuring stable and reliable operation in practical network deployments. You can see more details at Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM).

No, this cannot be used. A QSFP56 interface operates with 4 × 50G PAM4 modulation, while a QSFP28 interface uses 4 × 25G NRZ modulation. Because the modulation formats and per-lane signaling rates are fundamentally different, the two interfaces are not electrically or logically compatible and cannot be directly connected. To ensure link stability and proper operation, both ends of the connection must use the same modulation type and lane rate, and the AOC must be explicitly designed to support this configuration. For this product, we recommend using it with the ConnectX-6 network card.

QSFP-DD is designed based on the existing QSFP standard, and is backward compatible with 40G and 100G QSFP transceivers by adding additional electrical pins, but its heat dissipation relies on the external heat sink provided by the switch platform. OSFP is designed from scratch to support 400G and 800G applications, and the heat sink is integrated into the module housing itself, providing better thermal management performance. In addition, OSFP is larger in physical size than QSFP-DD.You can see more details at 400G OSFP/QSFP-DD/QSFP112 Module Introduction and Selection Guide.
