A BiDi optical module uses different wavelengths for transmit (TX) and receive (RX) signals over a single fiber strand. This enables bidirectional communication over a single fiber, reducing the amount of fiber infrastructure required. In contrast, standard optical modules use separate fiber strands for TX and RX signals.

Simplex single-mode cables with LC/UPC connectors. I bought these simplex cables along with some BIDI modules and they work great.

Hi, you need to add about 5dBm attenuation to get the 25G BX40 to work at 15km and it's unnecessary to turn on the FEC.
