MLAG Realizes Uninterrupted Services

The switch running MLAG can be upgraded without disrupting MLAG traffic. During the upgrade, another switch in the system takes over traffic forwarding to ensure uninterrupted services.

Q:

Do you have switches with IEEE1588 support? On the fiber optics transceivers, there is a DOM feature. Where can I find the data/protocol of this connection?

by H***t on 11/30/2021

A:

Only the Industrial Switches and 400G Switches support IEEE1588. S5800-8TF12S switch supports NTP, which is also used for clocks synchronization and tiered time distribution. DOM is a built-in function of the transceiver modules, which can monitor all data of transceiver modules in real-time. You can get the data of modules through viewing the DDM information of the switch.

We used DHCP Snooping on the switch to prevent end-users from serving DHCP to our network. I attempted to also add IP Source Guard, but can't seem to find a way to limit only to a VLAN, so it blocks all traffic on the VLANS where snooping was not on. The S5800 series didn't support using command to enable the IP Source Guard only on a specific VLAN at that time. The FS team should consider to optimize it.
