FS 1x2 DWDM Red/Blue Band Filter is a passive micro optics device based on environmentally stable thin film filter technology. It is mainly used to separate or combine Red band wavelength signals and Blue band wavelength signals in C Band, in single fiber Bi-directional DWDM systems and high power amplification system. The components are characterized with wide passband, low insertion loss, high return loss, excellent environmental stability and high power handling capability.

FS provides customized band filters and connectors to meet special control and applications.The filter units are available with steel tubes, 2-slot 1U rack mounts, Pluggable Module, or ABS boxes.

The wavelengths traveling over the dark fiber are split into two spectral bands by using Red/Blue C Band Filter at both ends of the dark fiber. It makes it possible to utilize single fiber strand for both transmitting and receiving, thus significantly maximizing investment and decreasing costs.

      Why is red and blue filter necessary when EDFA was added in DWDM single fiber link? By Brycen on 01/15/2018

      A:

      EDFA can only amplify unidirectional signals. In the case of single-fiber connection networks and EDFA is required, the wavelengths at two ends must be different. The transceivers at one end should be Red wavelengths, another end should be blue wavelengths, then Red and blue filter can split different waves. Furthermore, the amplifier can be used to magnify the links in different directions. And the red and blue filters are used in pairs, which play the role of isolating the red wavelength and blue wavelength. The range of red wavelength is 1545.8nm~ 1562.3nm (CH19-CH40). The range of blue wavelength band is 1520.0nm~1543.7nm(CH42-CH60). By FS on 01/15/2018
