The NVIDIA/Mellanox InfiniBand MCP4Y10-N002 is a 2x 400Gb/s twin-port OSFP (Octal Small Form-factor Pluggable) to 2x 400Gb/s twin-port OSFP direct attach cable that operates over passive copper and integrates eight high-speed electrical pairs, each supporting up to 100Gb/s with 100G-PAM4 modulation to deliver 800Gb/s for short-reach links. This cable is compliant with OSFP MSA (Multi-Source Agreement), CMIS Rev 4.0, and IEEE 802.3ck standards.
Both ends use a IHS/finned top design optimized for air-cooled switches. With near-zero power, ultra-low latency, and plug-and-play deployment, this passive DAC is ideal for short-reach, switch-to-switch connections in spine-leaf or leaf-leaf architectures, providing a cost-efficient and power-optimized solution for AI, HPC, and cloud data centers.
Note: "Finned top" transceivers are now called "Integrated HeatSink" (IHS) as the cooling fins are integrated into the OSFP connector metal top. Commonly used in air-cooled switches.
"Flat top" transceivers are now called "Riding Heat Sink" (RHS) as the cooling fins ride on top of the network card or system's internal cages. This is used for both air-cooled and liquid-cooled applications for DGX, ConnectX-7, and BlueField-80 DPUS.
