Planar lightwave circuit (PLC) splitter is a type of optical power management device that is fabricated using silica optical waveguide technology to distribute optical signals from Central Office (CO) to multiple premise locations.

Blockless PLC splitter has stronger fiber protection than bare fiber splitter, which is a miniaturization result of cassette splitter. It's mainly used for various connection and distribution boxes or network cabinets.

Just purchased and received in a timely manner. My question is how does it work? Are they supposed to plastic tip end? I tried to connect it to my optical plug but the green part was in the way and the tip was stuck, only a portion would stick out. I meant to buy this because I have a soundbar with only optical output. I have an android box and TV but I constantly have to switch the optical cable from the android box and TV . What's the difference between Optical Splitter (https://www.fs.com/products/12493.html) and a TAP (https://www.fs.com/products/68769.html)? By D***y on 07/25/2018

Optical Splitter #12493 is the same as the Mini Plug-in Type PLC Splitter and 1U rack-mount PLC splitter, it is average split, only the package style is different. For TAP #68769, you can choose the split ratio yourself, in the case of normal service transmission, it can split a part of the light for passive monitoring of the fiber link. I have a question regarding PLC splitter. Is there any way to make it bi-directional, if you shine light into fiber 4, you will see any light out of the IN fiber? By B***e on 03/25/2018

Hi, PLC splitter is generally used in PON network, if you use it in PON network, then it can meet your requirement, but if not, it can not achieve the bi-directional transmission. Because if multiple transceivers in the same wavelength from fiber 4 transmit signals to the IN fiber transceiver, then this transceiver cannot distinguish the signals. And PON network adopts Time division multiplexing technology, so the transceiver can distinguish the signals from different transceivers. By D***s on 03/25/2018
