40KM Passive Dispersion Compensation Pluggable Module

Dispersion Compensation Module (DCM) is designed to fix the form of optical signals that are deformed by chromatic dispersion. The main constituent of DCM is DCF (Dispersion Compensation Fiber) with a negative chromatic dispersion value within the wavelength range between 1525nm and 1565nm. The module offers a high level of compensation while maintaining a low flat insertion loss as well as a low latency. When combined with M6200 series EDFA and OEO, DCM provides a simple, reliable, and cost-effective long-haul transport solution, making signals go further without regeneration.

For DCM modules, I would like to know when these modules are usually needed?

A:

The DCM module is necessary when the transmission distance exceeds or is nearly the distance of the module. Some more simple rules for your reference: 1. Data Rate>2.5G; 2. Transmission Distance-Distance of transceivers+20KM<Compensation Length<Transmission Distance; 3. Uncompensated line length 10~20KM is the best, should not exceed 60km (regardless of 40KM or 80KM optical module).

This module came packaged extremely well. It has a nice look and feel. Appears to be very high quality. The DCM is plug and play with no configuration required. I was able to plug it directly into my chassis and then worked right away.
