High Density 16-Channel/48-Channel DWDM MUX/DEMUX Cassettes Launched in FS.COM

July 26th, Shenzhen. FS.COM News – A 16-channel and a 48-channel plug-and-play DWDM MUX/DEMUX cassettes, which use MTP interfaces for transmission, have been released in FS.COM to provide high density cabling solution for DWDM network.

Generally a DWDM MUX/DEMUX that provides channel number up to 16 or 48 usually uses standard 1U rack chassis design for easier cable management and uses LC or SC interfaces for duplex signal transmission. With the newly launched plug-and-play DWDM MUX/DEMUX cassettes the cabling density can be significantly increased by four times. The two cassettes have the same size (109.2*118*35nm) but different connection density. Up to four cassettes of this size can be installed in a 1RU standard rack chassis.

The 16-channel DWDM MUX/DEMUX cassette has a duplex LC COM port and four 8-fiber APC MTP interfaces with each providing 4 channels signal transmission in duplex way. The 16 channels assigned to the four interfaces from west to east are as following: C21-C24, C25-C28, C31-C34 and C35-C38. Thus up to 16 channels DWDM signals can be multiplexed and demultiplexed. A MTP to 8 LC harness cable is suggested to be used to connect the DWDM MUX/DEMUX cassette with the DWDM fiber optic transceivers and switches.

The 48-channel DWDM MUX/DEMUX cassette has the same size as the 16-channel cassette. Except a duplex LC COM port, there are eight 12-fiber APC MTP interfaces on this 48-channel cassette. Each MTP interface can provide 6 channels duplex transmission. 48 channels of 100GHz ITU grid DWDM signals ranging from C16 to C63 are averagely distributed to the 8 MTP interfaces for multiplexing and demultiplexing.
