I used it in slot 4, which was an x16 slot. I got the dual channel version, one to go straight to my iscsi box, and the other to my lan.

I wanted a dual-port intel-based NIC for pfSense. I picked up this card primarily because it came with both half-height and full-height brackets and also because other reviewers stated it worked well with pfSense. They weren't kidding! This card works fantastically with pfSense. I had no trouble at all getting it to work. I'm currently using one port as my WAN port and the other as my LAN port connected to a Netgear M4300.
