How to Configure LACP on Cisco Switches?

How to Configure LACP on Cisco Switches?

FS Official Apr 9, 2018

LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol) integrates multiple links as one single channel to increase bandwidth between network switches, which provides both link redundancy and failover with your existing Ethernet switches. It offers network redundancy by load-balancing traffic across all available links, that is, if one of the links fails, the system automatically load-balances traffic across all remaining links. With link failover, traffic can be shifted from a failed link to working links in the aggregation. LACP also provides automatic determination, configuration, and monitoring member links.

This video demonstrates how to configure 1G LACP on two Cisco switches (Catalyst 2960-X and Catalyst 4948E-F), and how to configure LACP of four 10G links to get 40G. The CLI commands for configuring both Cisco switch and FS switch are used in the demonstration. Two major steps required are the physical connection that is approached by transceivers and fiber optic cable, and logical connection achieved by a series of CLI commands. The yellow light signals that the loop is formed among switches while the green light indicates the successful LACP configuration.

LACP also offers automatic determination, configuration, and monitoring member links. If you need to configure LCAP, please note that all the aggregated network switches should support LACP.
