Working with MTP® High-Density Cabling System
Offer a market-leading low-loss and high-density connection system particularly suited to the Data Center (DC) and Storage Area Network (SAN) environment.
Allow for Seamless Migration to Higher Data Rates in the Data Center
FS MTP® system comprises cables, cassettes, and panels, using a higher-performing MPO connector – known as the MTP® connector – which is made by US Conec, bringing the highest quality multi-fibre pre-terminated system to our customers.
Lower Insertion Loss
High-performance MT-based connector reduces the amount of insertion loss when mating with networking equipment.
High-Density
Using MTP® fibre cables provides over 12 times the fibre density in the same footprint as the LC or SC cables.
Superior Stability
Significantly reduced the wear and tear and debris generation from plugging and re-plugging the connector multiple times.
High Scalability
Scales to whatever technology you’re using – including new parallel applications such as 400G Ethernet.
How to Choose the Right MTP® Cables for Your Application
Choosing the correct cables depends on many key factors – such as type of fibre count, fibre type (single mode or multimode), cable polarity, type of MTP® connectors, and cable jacket.
Fiber Count
MTP® connectors have 8/12/16/24F, and colour-coded boots for easy identification.
8-Fiber (MTP®-8)
Used to connect QSFP+ transceivers, requiring 4 transmit and 4 receive lanes.
12-Fiber (MTP®-12)
For trunk and backbone applications, it is also ideal for 8-fibre parallel applications.
16-Fiber (MTP®-16)
For 400/800G optics direct connection and transmission for hyperscale data centres.
24-Fiber (MTP®-24)
For high-density trunk and 100G applications.
16-576 Fibers
The cable combines MTP®-8/12 cable assemblies for high-density backbone applications.
Fiber Mode
MTP®/MPO cable types include single mode OS2 and multimode OM3/OM4/OM5 cables.
Single Mode OS2
For long-distance transmission, such as in Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) and PONs (Passive Optical Networks).
Multimode OM3/OM4/OM5
For short-distance transmission, allowing 40 Git/s maximum transmission distance of 300m/400m/440m respectively (with corresponding module).
Polarity
Polarity refers to the directional or corresponding relationship between the transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) ends of the fibre in an optical connection.
Type A
The fibre in Position 1 ends up in Position 1. On one end of the link, a patch cord flipping the transceiver-receiver is essential when employing Method A for duplex applications.
Type B
The fibre in Position 1 arrives at Position 12 at the opposite end. It uses straight A-B patch cords on both ends for duplex applications.
Type C
The fibre in Position 1 arrives at Position 2 at the opposite end. While this approach works well for duplex applications, it is not recommended for parallel 8-fibre 40/100G workloads.
Connector Gender
MTP® connectors utilise two alignment pins on one connector and two holes on the opposite connector. These are also referred to as "male" (with pins) and "female" (without pins) genders.
Male Connector
Needs to be combined with the female connector for additional distance by using adapters.
Female Connector
Typically used for connecting transceivers.
Cable Jacket
Our company offers three types of outer jacket materials for fibre cables, representing different fire ratings: OFNR, LSZH, and OFNP. The fire ratings for these materials are as follows: OFNP > OFNR > LSZH.
Plenum (OFNP)
Effectively prevents the spread of flames and is suitable for installation in environments with high fire safety requirements, such as plenum spaces.
Riser (OFNR)
For use in vertical as well as floor-to-floor installations.
LSZH
Refers to the material's properties of being low smoke and halogen-free, and ensures safety in indoor environments.
MTP® Cables: Versatility for Diverse Applications
FS offers four basic types of MTP® fibre optic cable assemblies and supports customisation in various parametres, including length, fibre count, connector type (male/female), and polarity, to meet the diverse needs of customers' solution configurations and application scenarios.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Is the MTP® connector an MPO connector?A:
Yes, the US Conec MTP® connectors are fully compliant with the MPO standards, achieving higher performance levels when compared to generic MPO connectors.
- Q: I would like to know about the testing procedures for your company's jumper products. Can you provide information?A:
Our jumper products undergo rigorous testing procedures to ensure their quality and performance. You can watch a video explaining our testing process by visiting the link: Fiber Optic Cables Testing. If you have any further questions or require more detailed information about our testing processes, please feel free to let us know.
- Q: What is the recommended method for cleaning MTP® cables?A:
You can use the MTP®/MPO-8/12/24 Cleaner to clean the cable. When using the cleaning pen, start by opening the cap of the attachment and insert the connecter of the cable, and then press the cleaner until you hear a click sound, indicating that the cable has been cleaned.
- Q: What is the bend radius limit for the cable, especially the area closest to the connector.A:
Hi, the minimum bend radius for multimode cables is 7.5mm, and for single mode cables, it's 10mm. Meanwhile, the boot is designed to bend and maintain direction from straight to 90°. If you have more questions, feel free to contact us.
