DWDM Mux/Demux makes it possible to converge two or more optical signals at different wavelengths by multiplexer at the transmitting end and transfer via one single fiber and separate them by demultiplexer at the receiving end. It boasts a large capacity and saves fiber. Therefore it has been the first choice for high capacity and long run data transmission. However, the insertion loss, a critical factor of it performance, should be highlighted.

Insertion loss, caused by the insertion of an optical component, arouses people’s attention as the the value may vary in different products. If the DWDM channel loss is high, the whole cost will correspondingly increase as optical amplifiers are needed to keep a balance signal power in the link. The maximum insertion loss of DWDM Muxs from different vendors ranges from 4.8dB to 7.5dB. However, the maximum insertion loss of FS 40CH DWDM Mux is only 4.5dB, lower than others. This video shows the insertion loss test of our 40-CH DWDM Mux/Demux and takes channel 25 port and channel 60 port as examples. The final test results of them are 3.58dB and 3.29dB.
