Raman Amplifier in One 1U Rack Mount

Raman Amplifier provides remote amplification by activating the Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) phenomenon along the transmission fiber. It's often used as preamplifier to enhance the performance of EDFAs in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems. It also has a better optical signal-to-noise ratio than EDFA amplifiers, and flat gain across all the C-band wavelengths range.

Raman amplifiers have also proven useful for all technology choices that can be used to deploy 100G and above.

    What is the difference between forward Raman Pump and Reverse Pump? By Mark on 14/11/2019


    The difference between them is the different placement, the forward pump is placed at the transmitting end and the reverse pump is placed at the receiving end. And they can be judged by the direction of the pump light. If the pump light and the signal light are in the same direction, it's forward pump; Otherwise, it's reverse pump. By FS on 14/11/2019
