Industry: Software & Services

Location: Belgium

Background

As business needs are evolving consistently, so does the data centre networking architecture. The traditional three-tier architecture is far from meeting the large data centre network requirements. In this case, the innovative spine-leaf architecture emerges as an optimal choice for continuously changing needs of small and middle-sized enterprises business, cloud computing, and cloud data centres. One of our customers, an edge cloud service company,  GIG Technology, is devising to deploy high performance, full redundancy, and vast storage large data centre.

Challenge

1. Generally speaking, a large data centre must possess a high throughput, low latency, large cache, and high-reliability characteristics. Our customers need that each rack has 8 nodes with dual 10G SFP+, an IPMI port, and a management port. Together, there will be about 6PB of HDD storage and 1PB of SSD storage that most of the storage will be addressable from the Internet.

2. What makes it important is how to deploy a high-performance network architecture with a promising cost for our customers.

Solution

After considering factors such as cost-efficiency, reliability, capacity, and performance, FS innovates the spine-leaf network architecture with all our 1G LAN access switches, 10G LAN distribution switches, and 40G LAN core switches.

S8050-20Q4C (20*40Gb+4*100Gb) 40Gb IP Storage and Spine/Aggregation Layer Switch

4.489,00 €

S3900-48T4S 48-Port 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Stackable Managed Switch with 4 10Gb SFP+ Uplinks

390,00 €

  •

We use the spine-leaf architecture to help prevent network bottlenecks, improves latency, and reduce deployment and maintenance cost which fully compliant with our customers’ high throughput, low latency, large capacity, and cost-efficiency demands.

  •

In this solution, the FS 40G S8050-20Q4C spine switch delivers a rich choice of interface, high port density, and high-speed forwarding communication to form an optimized and reliable backbone transmission structure. The 10G S5850-48S6Q leaf switch can handle all traffic from access layer devices and provide uplinks to the core layer. As for the 1G S3900-48T4S ToR switch, it is used for allowing the end-users to connect to the Internet. All the switches provide high-density server connectivity meeting the storage demands of our customers. At the same time, the whole solution can offer favorable scalability to make a preparation for the next generation networking upgrading.

  •

FS 10G S5850-48S6Q leaf switch boasts 1.44Tbps switching capacity, 1071.43Mpps throughput, and 612ns latency which can provide a vast capacity, high throughput and low latency for the large data centres. Also, it supports abundant advanced features, such as MLAG, VXLAN, IPv4/IPv6, SFLOW etc, which delivers high performance and strong stability for traditional or fully virtualized large data centres.

Conclusion

FS successfully assists our customers in renovating the spine-leaf architecture of the large data centres. The case is for large data centre architecture which poses high requirements on the network switches. FS S5850-48S6Q switch boasts high-performance, high-reliability, low latency functions, and favorable price, making it ideal options for the large data centres.
