What FS Data Center Switches Bring?
10/25/40/100/200/400 GbE Switch Speeds for Multiple Scenarios
FS data center switches offer high-density 10/25/40/100/200/400 GbE multispeed interfaces, bringing up to 19.05 Bpps throughput. They support up to a maximum of 25.6 Tbps switching capacity, which meets flexible development needs of multiple data center scenarios.
Microsecond Latency and Zero Packet Loss
With key technologies such as PFC, ECN, and RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE), FS data center switches provide efficient, low latency, lossless transport, necessary for modern data center applications.
Stacking or MLAG for High Resiliency
FS data center switches support industry-leading stacking technology or MLAG (Multi-chassis Link Aggregation Group) which can form logical peer-links between two switches. Both functions improve network resiliency and simplify network management.
Sound Security Protection Policies
FS data center switches comply with various security protection policies, including hardware-based IPv6 ACLs, hardware CPU protection mechanism, the Secure Shell (SSH), SNMPv3 and Network Foundation Protection Policy (NFPP), which ensures high-level security for data center spine and leaf deployments.
FAQs About FS Data Center Switches
Here is a list of FAQs about FS data center switches, concerning every aspect you may want to know.
Hardware
Q: Can the fan of your N series switches support custom airflow direction?
A: The fan of our N series data center switches supports customizing airflow direction. They can provide either back-to-front airflow (air comes in from the back of the switch) or front-to-back (air exhausts through the back of the switch). For more information, please contact sales@fs.com.
Q: Is there a 48 volt DC power option for your switches?
A: Currently, FS provides Hot-swappable AC Power Supplies(1+1 Redundancy) by default. But FS can also customize the DC power supply for you. Please find your account manager for more details about the customized product.
Software
Q: What is the FSOS operating system?
A: FSOS is a self-developed network operating system provided by FS.com, which can run on box network switches perfectly. Switches with FSOS have software functions that support complete Layer 3 IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols, and are designed for small and medium data centers.
Q: Do the N series switches support OpenFlow? Is there any supporting network management software?
A: N5860-48SC and all N8560 series switches support OpenFlow. For other open source switches such as N5850-48S6Q, OpenFlow is not supported. But they can currently support Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)v1/v2/v3 for network management, and also support third-party SNMP network management software, such as Zabbix.
Q: What models in the N series switches support vxlan evpn?
A: FS data center switches that support EVPN-VXLAN include: N8560-32C, N5860-48SC, N8560-48BC, NC8200-4TD, N8550-48B8C, N8550-32C.
Management
Q: Do the N series switches support Web management?
A: No, FS data center switches don't support Web, as is the case with most data center switches. But they support CLI/Telnet/SNMP/SSH.
Q: Are the N series switches compatible with Ansible?
A: Theoretically, they are compatible with Ansible. It can be realized by logging on to the switch remotely through SSH.
Product Comparison
Q: Can you tell me the difference between Fixed Series Switches, Modular Series Switches, and Open Networking Switches?
A: Modular Series Switches" can be used with some line cards to realize flexible port combination. The difference between "Fixed Series Switches" and "Open Networking Switches" is mainly the switch operating system. "Fixed Series Switches" is the fixed FSOS system installed. "Open Networking Switches" provide a self-developed extensible open networking operating system, which can perfectly run on the high-quality white box networking switches. And it can be replaced with other supported third-party Network Operating Systems (NOSs) and gives you the freedom to choose innovative software that best fits your needs.
Q: I am very interested in both N8550 and N8560 switches. Can you provide a comparative analysis?
A: They have the following differences:
N8550 switches are white box switches and support ONIE. You can install your preferred systems. While the N8560 series is complete with an operating system.
N8560 switches are a little more expensive than N8550 series because of the built-in system.
N8560 switches support OpenFlow, VXLAN, EVPN, virtualization, BGP, PFC, ECN, DCBX, ZTP, NETCONF, programmable, MLAG, etc. If you want to use it in a cloud service scenario, N8560 switches are recommended.
Q: What's the difference between S5850-48S6Q and N5850-48S6Q?
A: S5850-48S6Q is a campus network switch with its own FSOS system and does not support the installation of other systems. N5850-48S6Q is a data center switch that supports ONIE. Other suitable operating systems can be installed. As a data center switch, N5850-48S6Q is better than the S5850-48S6Q in terms of performance and table entries.
Service & Warranty
Q: How long is the warranty period for FS data center switches?
A: We offer you a warranty period of five years for the purchase of our data center switches. The warranty covers only defects arising under normal use and does not include malfunctions or failures resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, alteration, problems with electrical power, usage not in accordance with product instructions, acts of nature, or improper installation or improper operation or repairs made by anyone other than FS or an FS authorized service provider. Please check FS Products Warranty for detailed info.
Q: Do the switches have additional paid functions or services? Does FSOS software need to install the license?
A: There are no additional paid features. You do not need to install the license. It is free to use the full features FSOS offers.
Q: I need to verify the functionality of: stack, MLAG, IP routing (OSPF), and VLAN. Would that kind of test be possible?
A: Yes, you can test these functions of our data center switches. Our remote testing service allows users to deploy and connect to products running in our lab. You can operate our switches remotely. Here is the link for application: https://www.fs.com/request_demo.html
