A:Our S-series 100G switches are designed based on the fourth generation high-end scalable chipset, which supports L2/L3/Data Center/Metro features. The switches come with complete system software with comprehensive protocols and applications to facilitate rapid service deployment and management for both traditional L2/L3 networks and data center networks. For example, the FS.COM S8050 series 100G switch has a capacity of 1200 million packets per second (PPS) with Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding at wire speed. And it provides a total bandwidth of 2.4Tb/sec for nonblocking, cut-through switching.

N-Series 100G open switches are embedded Broadcom chips, Intel CPU as well as ICOS operating system, which is for next generation metro, data center and enterprise network applications. Q: What OS do FS.COM 100G Switches support? What work do they support?

A: The S-series 100G switches use FS.COM OS at present. This OS is based on the development of Linux, and its overall architecture is similar to Arista EOS. Hardware platform compatible with X86 architecture and PowerPC architecture, and supports Enterprise/Data Center/Metro Ethernet features, including L2/L3/ACL/QoS/Security, NVGRE/VXLAN, RPC API.

N-series 100G switches use common ONIE system, and support third-party operating system, like Broadcom ICOS. Broadcom ICOS is a full-featured networking OS for data centers and includes advanced layer-2 features such as MLAG and layer-3 features such as ECMP, VRF, IPv4, IPv6, and SDN features such as VxLAN, OpenFlow and OpEN API.

Q: Does the system is compatible with Cumulux Linux?

A: S-series 100G switches only support FS.COM OS at present. Later the supporting system will be perfect further. While the N-series 100G switches are not only compatible with Cumulus Linux, but also support other operating systems such as OcNOS, Open Network Linux and PicOS, etc.

Q: Do FS.COM 100G switches have management and diagnostic tools that can help customers troubleshoot potential problems?

A: Yes, our 100G switches support the following functions to help our customers troubleshoot potential problems:

Q: Do FS.COM 100G switches run a 3rd party software or are the switching/routing engines of them developed in-house?

A: They are developed in-house.

Q: Whether the FS.COM 100G switches support the function of MPLS?

A: No, our 100G switches don't support the function of MPLS. But the S5800 series 10G switches support the function.

Q: Do FS.COM 100G Switches support stacking?

A: Our 100G switches don't support stacking. But they support MLAG that is relatively easy to manage. Two devices can achieve cross device port aggregation.

Q: Does FS.COM 100G switches support IEEE802.1 Audio Video Bridging standard?

A: No, Our 100G switches don't support it.

Q: What licensing model does the FS.COM 100G Switches use? And, is there a software license cost?

A: Our S-series 100G switches use permanent license model. In order to facilitate the management, now we combine all licenses into two: IP Base and IP Service. There are no additional charges for upgrading to IP Base. If you want to upgrade to IP Service, each license is $130 USD. But after you buy the license of IP Service, it will serve ever.

Q: Do FS.COM 100G switches support the Network Plug and Play (PnP) agent?

A: No, our 100Gswitches don't support PnP.

Q: If I want to use third-party transceivers, will they work with FS.COM 100G switches?

A: In principle, our 100G switches are compatible with any standard module. But we recommend using our certified modules. Our switches have no special requirements for the module, and there is no limit too.

Q: What is the limits on OSPF and BGP routing, such as the number of routes?

A: OSPF and BGP routing supports Flexible Table Management, it can choose different profiles according to different application scenarios. Default support 4K ARP Entry and 8K FIB, Arp can support up to 20K under the layer3 profile.

Q: Do FS.COM 100G switches support jumbo frame for an iSCSI environment?

A: Yes, our S-series 100G switches support jumbo frame (9600 Bytes). N-series 100G switch support Jumbo Frame up to 12K.

Q: What types of security layers are offered on FS.COM 100G switches? How does FS.COM handle the problems of security and backdoor vulnerability?

A: Our 100G switches support SSH, AAA, DDoS defense. In addition, they also support Elephant Flow Detection, CPU traffic and CPU limit, ACL, Port Security, Port Isolate, Port block, Vlan security, private Vlan, IP source guard, etc.

Q:Is it possible to use OSPF in combination with NVGRE/VXLAN for controlling of routing of NVGRE/VXLAN packets? Is it possible to implement link failure protection with combination of NVGRE/VXLAN and OSPF?

A:Through the test on the equipment, it's found that OSPF is used to connect VXLAN and it's available to control the routing of VXLAN packets. By setting the priority route on OSPF to ensure the redundancy of the link, when a routing is broken, OSPF can quickly switch routing to ensure to the implement link and to deliver the data without interruption.

Q: What quality-of-service (QoS) features do FS.COM 100G Switches provide to enhance traffic management?

A: Our 100G switches provide 1R2C and 2R3C Policing, including Port Policing and Flow Policing on both ingress and egress to enable more flexible QoS offerings. In addition, FS.COM 100G switches also offer scheduling and shaping, including both port shaping and queue shaping.

Q: Is the implementation of NVGRE/VXLAN on N-Series/ICOS compatible with implementation of NVGRE/VXLAN on FS.COM-OS on S5850?

A: VXLAN is deployed on N-Series and S5850 Series, they can be successfully achieved the tunneling and implement L2 features.

Q: How to handle the connectivity problems in the test?

A: Take FS.COM S8050 series switch as an example, problem shown as below:

 1) eth-0-11 (QSFP28-SR4, 100G) to eth-0-14 (QSFP28-SR4, 100G): Pass   2) eth-0-11 (QSFP28-SR4, 100G) to Ixia (QSFP28-SR4, 100G): Fail   3) eth-0-11 (QSFP28-SR4, 100G) to FortiCarrier (QSFP28-SR4, 100G): Fail   4) Ixia (QSFP28-SR4, 100G) to FortiCarrier (QSFP28-SR4, 100G): Pass

Check the device as following:

When docking fails, firstly check the details of module on the switch. The command is “show transceiver eth-0-11 detail”.

When docking fails, set the port rate in line with the module on the device, and set the working status as duplex, then observe whether the LED on the port is on.

When docking fails, make sure whether the switch device and the peer device turn on the FEC function.

The FEC function of the equipment on both ends should keep consistent (enable or disable), or the ports cannot be up. In addition, this commend is “fec enable”/”fec disable”.

A: Our 100G switches are currently controlling feature set through the license, rather than Image. License is bundled with the device. In other words, each switch has a license.

Q: Does it need any additional fee if the switch system needs to upgrade?

A: FS.COM OS is updated by the officially image, so it doesn't need any additional fee. The upgrade of Brodcam ICOS doesn’t need any additional fee too. Custom services are available if other requirements are needed.

Q: What is the warranty for FS.COM 100G Switches?

A: One year warranty, including any quality problems during the free maintenance. If you need to renew, we will charge 5% as renewal cost based on the original price each year.
