25G SFP28 Cabling Solution for ToR Switch Connection

The release of the 25G Ethernet standard has provided a new path for data center server connections. And 25G SFP28 direct attach copper cable (DAC) and active optical cable (AOC) present to be the most economical option for short-reach 25G Top of Rack (ToR) switch connections, because they are featured with lower power consumption and lower interconnection loss. 25G SFP28 optical transceivers and fiber patch cables are also alternatives for longer 25G ToR switch links.

25G SFP28 Cable for ToR Switch to Server Connection

Servers and storages are typically connected to ToR switch over a very short distance i.e. within the same rack or row. They claim the highest share of devices deployed in any data center. Choosing a lower cost connectivity option results in a much lower initial deployment cost. Besides, 25G SFP28 DAC/AOC and 100G QSFP28 to SFP28 DAC can lower the interconnection loss.

25G SFP28 for ToR Switch to Switch Connection

ToR switches that are located more than 30 meters from each other will require a longer traffic link. With a long OM4 LC duplex cable and two SFP28 optical transceivers, two 25G ToR switches far from 100 meters can be connected smoothly. As for same rack 100G ToR switch and 25G switches, the breakout link can be made by using an 8 fibers MTP-LC duplex cable.

FS 25G SFP28 Cabling Solution

25G SFP28 DACs at FS consist of both 25G SFP28 to SFP28 and 100G QSFP28 to 4 SFP28, and AOCs SFP28 to SFP28. They are supplied as multiple brands and each end can be customized to be different brands. OM4 LC duplex fiber patch cables can be low loss uniboot, bend insensitive or polarity switchable. MTP to LC fiber patch cable has different jacket options (CMP, CMR, LSZH).
